On November 25, the Bremen Chamber of Commerce and Town of Bremen will host the annual Town of Bremen Christmas Lighting in downtown Bremen at 6:30 PM. Following a record turnout of over 300 attendees last year, the Chamber hopes to exceed this number in 2009.
Every year, the Chamber hosts a coloring contest amongst all Bremen 3rd graders (Bremen Elementary and Lutheran Schools). The winner of this contest will be awarded the honor of “flipping the switch” during the lighting ceremony which will turn on all of the Christmas lights from downtown to the west end. This year, there will be a special candle lighting ceremony followed by the arrival of a very special visitor (Santa).
Trent Miles, Chamber Coordinator, stated, “We have had numerous community organizations express an interest in teaming up with the Town and Chamber this season. We are trying to involve as many people as we can in order to make this a community effort.”
With organizations such as the Bremen Boys Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts as well as the Marshall County Drill Team participating in the festivities again this season, the event has grown to new heights. Dean Huppert, Sports Director for Fox28 News, will be the MC for the evening and the Horizon Ministries band will provide the music.
“We have had such a great response from the community already. We can’t wait to see what happens this year.”
